No Feud Between Igbos And Yorubas, Says Iwuanyanwu, Obasanjo

Obasanjo                          Iwuanyanwu

The fight between the Igbos and Yorubas is in the realm of speculations and therefore should be downplay by Nigerians across boards, the business mogul, Chief Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu gave this indication in Awka, Anambra state capital recently.

Speaking during one-year anniversary of Prof Chukwuma Sokudo in office as Governor of the state,  Iwuanyanwu said that the people,  destroying Igbo properties in Lagos were “political rascals”.

Similarly, former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, condemned the anti-Igbo sentiments in Nigeria, describing it as “Igbophobia”.

Iwuanyanwu said, “I want to let our people in Lagos know, on Wednesday, I called a meeting of the Ohanaeze council of elders worldwide and we x-rayed the events in Lagos.

“I want to tell you that people who attended are from the branches in America, Canada, Europe, London, and Nigeria. We have resolved and I want those from Lagos to go home and tell those in Lagos that we have resolved that never again can we allow anybody to take the life of any innocent Igbo person. All of us are going to fight the person. Never again!

“We are in Nigeria and we have invested in Nigeria. Our investments are so much, we are not going to take the question of people telling us to go, we are not going anywhere.
“And I want to tell those in Lagos to realise that there is no war between us and Yorubas. Yorubas are with us. There are just political rascals, and we’re going to handle them.
“The elders have directed the secretary general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, [Okey] Emuchay, to set up a commission of inquiry to find out things destroyed; people are going to pay”.

Speaking at the event in Anambra, Obasanjo said when he was president, Soludo was on his team as his economic adviser and they worked well together.
The former president said he was so happy with Soludo’s performance that he decided to send him to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where he performed “so wonderfully well”.
However, he said after he appointed Soludo and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the finance minister then, someone told him he had made a terrible mistake by appointing Igbo to handle those positions.
Obasanjo said, “On one occasion, soon after I appointed him, somebody came to me and said wow, you have ruined the economy of Nigeria. I said how? He said an Igbo woman, minister of finance; an Igbo man, governor of Central Bank, then you have clearly completed the task of ruining the economy of Nigeria.
“I don’t know why he said that, except for what I can call Igbophobia, and I don’t take that lightly. It remains, it persists.

Oil Block: Why Fed Govt Prioritises Production Bonus To Attract Local & Foreign Investors

Oil Blocks: Why FG Prioritizes Production Bonus to Attract Local and Foreign Investors By Ibrahim Musa The Federal Government has emphasized production bonus, which refers to the payment by an operator to a host country upon achievement of oil and gas production, as a strategy for attracting investors to bid for Nigeria’s oil blocks. Previously, the government relied on a high signature bonus, which refers to a single, non-recoverable lump sum payment made upfront by oil companies for their rights to develop oil blocks, as an option for maximizing revenue generation, thus discouraging investors with limited resources from bidding. Currently, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC which regulates activities in the nation’s oil and gas industry, has removed all entry barriers to attract massive investments. This strategy aims at growing oil and gas production, enhancing Nigerian Content Development, attracting Foreign Direct Investment, contributing to l...
