Fed Govt Slightly Reverse The Price of PMS

Queue at the filing station  The President,  Petroleum Products Retailers Owners of Nigeria( PETROAN), Dr Billy Gills Harry, says the reduction of the product, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited( NNPCL) is good for the nation'struggling economy, as it would help in soften the difficult situations posed by the sharp rise in the price of petroleum products. While reacting to the issue through a statement issued and signed to the NEWSMIRROR yesterday, Harry said that the slight reversal of the price by NNPCL shows that the government is committed to the alleviation of the problems of the masses. According to him, the reduction in the price per litre of Petrol Motoring Spirit( PMS) from N1,020 per litre to N899 per litre is good, adding that the country will soon get over its problem, if the readjustment of the economy continues. IGP to Nigerians: Deface new notes and face prosecution

Nigerians, who are selling and defacing new naira notes of N200,500 and N1000 are facing arrest and prosecution soon unless they change from their criminal activities,  the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has said  

Baba yesterday ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau, to commence arrest and prosecution of individuals, who was found selling and abusing the  naira notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria. 

The order, which was conveyed in a statement signed by the Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, quoted the police boss as imploring them to place officers and men of the Department and the Bureau across the nation on high alert.

He further charged all supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of Police Commands and Formations to carry out “full enforcement of the provisions of Sections 20 and 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 .

The Act criminalizes amongst other things the hawking, selling or otherwise trading, spraying of, dancing or matching on the Naira notes, falsifying or counterfeiting of bank notes, refusal to accept the Naira as a means of payment, tampering with the coin or note issued by the CBN.”

The statement added: “This is in furtherance of the Federal Government’s policy and drives to uphold the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, and dignify Nigeria’s currency.”

The Inspector-General of Police further reiterated the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to enforce all laws and regulations without any prejudice to the enabling Acts of other security agencies and urged all and sundry to cooperate with the Nigeria Police Force as it brings the long arm of the law to bear upon all violators of the provisions of the CBN Act, and other extant statutes in Nigeria, with a view to having a well-policed society in all ramifications within the country.

Axella Plans To Deepen Gas Utilisation in Nigeria
