Oando Acquires Oil Block In Angola

Oando Plc  Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade  Oando Plc  says it has completed and won the bid for the operatorship of oil block KON 13 in Angola. The firm which recently acquired Eni of Italy’s oil assets in Nigeria, said that the award of the oil block located in Angola’s onshore Kwanza Basin followed a competitive bidding process by the country’s oil and gas sector regulator. It further said hat the asset in which it owns 45 per cent participating interest, has estimated prospective resources of 770 to 1,100 million barrels of oil. EKEDC: Three remanded for assaulting the firm's staff

Three suspects have been remanded by the Badagry Magistrate"s Court for  assaulting a staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
They are  Sikiru Suleman, 43; Omoghene Emmanuel, 19; and Ezike Eucharia, 42. 
The trio are cooling their feet at the  Badagry Correctional Centre for assaulting a staff of the utility firm, Janet Onosherena Alugbhe, at Hughes Avenue in Alasia Ijanikin, Lagos.
In a statement signed and made available to the News Mirror,. the company's  spokesperson of EKEDC, Godwin idemudia, said that the suspects assaulted  the victim while discharging her lawful duties as a field-representative officer.
He said: "  On April 17, 2022, Alugbhe visited the area to collect evidence of meter bypass after she had received information about the massive cases of such illegal activity in that area. On her way out of the avenue, she was mobbed and violated by about 30 people. She was pulled from a bike by her hair, her clothes were torn, and personal effects seized. 
Adding that : She was forced to unlock her phone and all the data she had gathered on the cases of the meter bypass was deleted. The mob proceeded to insert her phone into her private part. ‘In all my years, I have never heard of such barbaric act, and those involved should be ashamed of themselves,’ Idemudia stated.
However, the three defendants pleaded not guilty to the 5-count charge levelled against them before the Court. 
The Court has granted bail to the defendants in the sun of N300,000, with 2  sureties in like sum residing n Lagos State. The surities, the Court said, must be gainfully employed, coupled with the fact that they must have 3 years Tax Clearancee certificate.
Idemudia further expressed his aversion to these unlawful acts and reiterated that the Company has a zero-tolerance policy on assault and will go to the full extent of the law to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

Germany's President President, Steinmeier Visit Nigeria

By Favour Ifeoluwa& Akinola Ajibade  Germany's President, Steinmeier  The German President,Frank Steinmeir, yesterday,  arrived Nigeria for a three-day official visit. Steinmeier tuched down on the night at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, where he was was welcomed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.  His visit aims to underline the strength of Nigeria-Germany relations and to mark Germany’s appreciation of Nigeria.  Steinmeier, during his visit, is expected to meet with President Bola Tinubu, as well as with the President of the Commission of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Dr. Alieu Omar Touray.  He will then proceed to Lagos, where he will engage with business representatives, visit a start-up hub and meet with members of Nigeria’s culture sector and civil society.   A statement by the German embassy in Nigeria said: “Following the visit of German Chancellor Ol...
