NNPC destroys 134 Illegal Refineries Recently

A destroyed refinery  By Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade  The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited( NNPCL) says it has destroyed 134 illegal refineries in the last few weeks.  Also, the company said  63 illegal pipeline connections were uncovered during the the weeks .  The corporation, In a visual report, stated that at about 2 am on Sunday, a joint team of security agents discovered a large wooden boat illicitly loading stolen crude oil from Barge AGS01 within the OML 18 operating area, noted intelligence report a large wooden wooden boat was caught receiving crude oil from the barge.  According to the state-owned oil firm, while the barge was towed away with a tugboat in custody, five speedboats used in towing the large wooden boat to the illegal loading site were also detained and the particulars of the tugboats and barge used for the operation were reportedly seized for further investigation.  It further said that two large boats, which involve

NNPCL Retires Over 70 Management Staffs

. NNPC's Headquarters By Favour & Akinola Ajibade The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited ( NNPCL) yesterday, sent over 70 management staffs on voluntary retirement. Also affected by the recent changes in NNPCL was its Chief Corporate Communication Officer, Garba Dean Muhammed on voluntary retirement, who was asked to hand over to its immediate subordinate in the organisation. NewsMirror findings revealed that the management staff starts from the rank of Deputy Manager among others senior officials, are affected in the recent changes in the company.. According to NNPCL, this retirement is different from what happened about two years ago when retirement was voluntary. The firm further said that the retirement is compulsory once the affected workers have less than 15 months to go.  The affected staff, NNPCL said are unfortunately not pensionable, adding that only those have spent 10 years and above are  qualified for pension. A 35-Year Old Commits Suicide In Jigawa State

Ilu's corpse after the incident By Favour & Akinola Ajibade Tragedy strucked, recently in Jigawa State, as a 35-Year Old man committed suicide over hardship in the country.  Identified as Samaila Ilu, the victim was believed to have hanged himself days after ruminating over the harsh economy biting an average Nigerian citizens.  The victim, a native of Dungun Tantama Village, according to spokesman of the Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the incident happened on Thursday, August 17, 2023. According to him, the deceased left his house peacefully to the spot where he committed suicide, adding the residents of the local government discovered hours after seeing the body of Ismailia hanging. He said a team of police officers later took his corpse to the hospital for autopsy.

'State-Owned Airports Are Unviable In Nigeria- Says Nuhu

One of state- owned airports in Nigeria By Favour & Akinola Ajibade   The General Manager, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu has passed a vote of no confidence on state-owned airports, describing them as wastes to their owners, mainly state governments. However, the former Director-General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Dr. Muda Yusuf said that four out of 32  airports in the country are economically sustainable. They include Murtala Muhammed Airport in  Lagos (which generates about 50% of the entire revenue), Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), and Port-Harcourt International Airport. 'Centre For Skills Development May Be Ready December'

Power Infrastructure By Favour & Akinola Ajibade The Minister of Power,Bayo Adelabu says fire outbreak was responsible for the grid collapse  experienced today across the country  In a statement on his X (Twitter)handle, Adelabu said the incident, which came with an explosion sound was was observed on Kainji/Jebba 330kV line 2 (Cct K2J) blue phase CVT & Blue phase line Isolator of Kainji/Jebba 330kV line1 was observed burning.  This led to sharp drops in frequency from 50.29Hz to 49.67 Hz at 0:35:06Hrs with Jebba generation loss of 356.63MW. NDPHC Discusses With NERC On Govt's N180b Outstandings

Ugbo  By Favour & Akinola Ajibade The Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company ( NDPHC) Limited, Mr Chiedu Ugbo, said the sector regulator is working to resolve  payment of remaining N180 billion debts owed the company. He said this yesterday (Thursday) in Abuja, while outligining measures, which are being undertaken by the company to remove problems plaguing the distribution of electricity to consumers in the country. Recall that power distribution companies (DisCos)  have defaulted on the payment to Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) which guaranteed the power sold to them for onward distribution to customers. Ugbo however explained that, “It is a systemic issue in terms of collections from the distribution companies to the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading NBET (N-BET) and N-BET pays us.
