By Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade The Federal Government yesterday( Monday) announced the transfer of Regulatory Oversight of the Electricity Market in Imo State to the state electricity regulatory commission, otherwise known as (ISERC). In a statement issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Common( NERC), the development is in compliance with the amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) and the Electricity Act 2023 (Amended), reiterating that all transfers envisaged by this order shall be completed by 31 December 2024. According to the Commission,the transfer Order’s provisions include: “Direct Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to incorporate a subsidiary (EEDC SubCo) to assume responsibilities for intrastate supply and distribution of electricity in Imo State from EEDC, and that EEDC shall complete the incorporation of EEDC SubCo within 60 days from 27th June 2024. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Industries, Mr Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has gotten the nod of the Federal Government to complete 30-km Ikorodu Sagamu and also embark on the rehabilitation of 32-km Itokin Roads in 2023
He obtained the approval yesterday ( Wednesday) during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola in his office in Mabushi, Abuja.
Abiru, who represents the Lagos East Senatorial Districts at the Red Chamber, also leverage on the visit to appreciate the efforts of the Minister on the two critical Federal roads, which he started on assumption of office as a senator two years ago.
The roads are Ikorodu- Itoikin and Ikorodu/ Sagamu.
The Senator further seized the visit to extend the gratitudes of his constituents to the minister for his great support to the projects.
On his part, Fashola informed the senator that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved complete rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Itoikin Road in January next year.
Meanwhile, critical sections of the 30-Km Ikorodu/Sagamu road, from; Sabo,Okegbegun, First Gate, Odogunyan, Ita-Oluwo, Ogijo, Gbaga, Sotubo, Mosimmi to Gbara Village have been fixed, remaining less than 8 Kilometre to get to Sagamu.

President Muhammadu Buhari ends in 2023.
Recall that these achievements were made possible through a motion moved by Senator Abiru sometimes ago.
The motion titled: Urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Sagamu And Ikorodu-Itoikin- Epe Roads To Further Bridge The Infrastructure Gap And Enhance Economic Growth In Nigeria” in April 2021, highlighted the importance of the two roads to the nation’s economic growth, which serve as access points from other parts of the country: Ogun, Edo, Northern states and routes to New Lekki- Ibeju corridor where Dangote Refinery and
Lagos Deep Seaport and Free Trade Zone among others, are situated.
