NNPC destroys 134 Illegal Refineries Recently

A destroyed refinery  By Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade  The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited( NNPCL) says it has destroyed 134 illegal refineries in the last few weeks.  Also, the company said  63 illegal pipeline connections were uncovered during the the weeks .  The corporation, In a visual report, stated that at about 2 am on Sunday, a joint team of security agents discovered a large wooden boat illicitly loading stolen crude oil from Barge AGS01 within the OML 18 operating area, noted intelligence report a large wooden wooden boat was caught receiving crude oil from the barge.  According to the state-owned oil firm, while the barge was towed away with a tugboat in custody, five speedboats used in towing the large wooden boat to the illegal loading site were also detained and the particulars of the tugboats and barge used for the operation were reportedly seized for further investigation.  It further said that two large boats, which involve

The Federal Government has ruled out attacks against the country before and after 2023 general elections, urging Nigerians to go about their daily activities without any fear molestation. 

This is coming on the heels of the recent secutiny advisories by the United States and United Kingdom, which warned their citizens to stay clear of impending  attacks against the country. 

The two countries have seperatly raised alarm that Nigeria is under serious attacks by insurgents and others soon, and that their nationals in Nigeria should beware.

Speaking after a Security Council Meeting presided over by President Muhammed Buhari in Abuja, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno,  said the situation is under control,  and also described as false and irresponsible the perception of heightened insecurity in Abuja as painted by the UK and the US.

He insisted that the alert was for Americans and British citizens, stressing that the alert has  that complicated the situation.

The alert, he said, was simply an unnecessary distraction and nothing untoward so far.

He advised Nigerians to go about their daily activities without fear, saying that the security agencies are in control and that the country is safe.The National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, has assured Nigerians that there is no cause for alarm, this is against the backdrop of recent security advisories by the United States and the United Kingdom,

According to the NSA, he said the situation is under control, and described as false and irresponsible the perception of heightened insecurity in Abuja as painted by the UK and the USA.

Similarly,  the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, assured Nigerians that there was no cause for alarm and advised Nigerians to remain confident in the ability of the security agencies to maintain law and order.

“I just want to use the opportunity to assure Nigerians that the armed forces, the police, and other security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that lives and property of Nigerians are well protected,” Irabor said.

“So far, there is no cause for alarm and Nigerians should go about their normal duties as the armed forces and all the security agencies are well poised to protect them accordingly.”

In attendance at the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, as well as the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari.

Others are the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd); the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi.

NNPC Completes Mechanical Rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery Plant

The nation's oil company began rehabilitation of the refinery two years ago, while at the same time, promised to complete its by 31st December 2023.
