Nigeria's security situation is becoming intense by the day,as Nigerians go out in search of their daily bread in fears.
Recently, the country's Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, called for deployment of water- tight security arrangements in schools, hospitals, health workers and critical infrastructures across the country.
Also, the IGP ordered his men to search uncompleted buildings and bushes, with a view to arrest criminals found on sight and charge them to courts accordingly.
The aside the directives that police should engage in regular patrols, stop-and-search, raids, and show of force by tactical commanders, with a view to clamp down on pockets of crime and criminality recorded in some states of the federation.
The aim is to maintain a water- tight security in all nooks and crannies of the country and further rid it of bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers among other criminal elements.
In a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi and made available to the National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE) on yesterday ( Sunday), the IGP gave the directive while reviewing the general security situation in Nigeria via reports from commands and formations.
He tasked strategic police managers at various levels to prioritize the use of intelligence gathering networks, particularly traditional/local intelligence to locate criminal hideouts and apprehend them before they strike.
“Against the backdrop of this development, Nigerians are hereby urged to cooperate with the Police as many police operatives will be seen at strategic areas, routes and communities, in order to suppress the antics and criminal activities of men of the underworld.” The statement read.
Meanwhile, the IGP has warned officers of the Nigeria Police Force to be civil, professional and humane in the course of discharging their duties.
He restated his commitment to the protection of lives and property of members of the public.
