By Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade The Federal Government yesterday( Monday) announced the transfer of Regulatory Oversight of the Electricity Market in Imo State to the state electricity regulatory commission, otherwise known as (ISERC). In a statement issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Common( NERC), the development is in compliance with the amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) and the Electricity Act 2023 (Amended), reiterating that all transfers envisaged by this order shall be completed by 31 December 2024. According to the Commission,the transfer Order’s provisions include: “Direct Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to incorporate a subsidiary (EEDC SubCo) to assume responsibilities for intrastate supply and distribution of electricity in Imo State from EEDC, and that EEDC shall complete the incorporation of EEDC SubCo within 60 days from 27th June 2024. NERC commends Enugu Electricity Distribution Company on transformation

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission ( NzERC) has commended the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EDCC) for efforts made in sustaining and actualising tits transformation agenda.
The Commission said that the idea has resulted in efficiency and productivity in the company
NERC through its Chairman, Sanusi Garba gave the commendation when the management of Enugu Electricity Distribution visited the Commission in Abuja .
EEDC's delegation was led by its Chairman, Sir Emeka Offor in company of other directors of the firm. Othher members of the delegation includes the Managingg Director/ Chief Executive officer of the compan, Mr Praveen Choghade Executive Director, Business, Fiance and Administration, Mr Paul Okeke, Chief Technical officer, Engineer Vincent Ekwekwa among others
At the event, the NERC Chairman extolled the virtue of the Board of EEDC for appointing seasoned professionals in the industry.
The NERC's boss said that the development has greatly helped in the transformation that is being witnessed in the company.
In a statement signed by the company's Spokesman, Mr Emeka Ezeh and made available to the News Mirror, the company
seized the opportunity to formally it's new management executives to the Commission, following the recent appointment of the Board led by its Chairman, Sir Emeka Offor and Mr Ernest Rapheal Mup aways.
Mupwaya is bringing on board his over 30 years of experience garnered in the Electricity industry, part of which was as the Managing Director, ZESCO, Zambia; Commercial Director, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he was later elevated to the position of Managing Director/CEO.
He has a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from California Intercontinental University, USA (DBA), a Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Glamorgan and University of South Wales, United Kingdom, and also a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Zambia.
Recall that Enugu Electricity Distribution Company is one of the firms unbundled from the assets of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria ( PHCN)
