By Favour Ifeoluwa & Akinola Ajibade The Federal Government yesterday( Monday) announced the transfer of Regulatory Oversight of the Electricity Market in Imo State to the state electricity regulatory commission, otherwise known as (ISERC). In a statement issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Common( NERC), the development is in compliance with the amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) and the Electricity Act 2023 (Amended), reiterating that all transfers envisaged by this order shall be completed by 31 December 2024. According to the Commission,the transfer Order’s provisions include: “Direct Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to incorporate a subsidiary (EEDC SubCo) to assume responsibilities for intrastate supply and distribution of electricity in Imo State from EEDC, and that EEDC shall complete the incorporation of EEDC SubCo within 60 days from 27th June 2024. Electric motorcycle on display
The Federal Government, European Union( EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, yesterday, unveiled an Electric Vehicle (EV) in Lagos.
The government, through its Ministry of Power, developed the vehicle pilot project, while the
European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation provided the necessary financial support for the scheme.

The event, which took place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos
had fognatories including states' commissioners,
top-evhelon of the nation's energy sectors among others, in attendance.
Organised in order to showcase the beauty, sophistication and the immense benefits inherent in the solar energy to Nigerians, especially residents of the rural-urban and peri-urban communities in Nigeria, who presently are battling irregular supply of electricity, the event provided opportunities for participants to know how electric vehicles, especially motorcycles can aid the activities of farmers in the course of planting, harvesting and transporting their produce to the market for growth.

Access Department of the Federal Ministry of Power, (FMP), Mr. Abubakar
DAPSHIMA,said that the success of the Electric Vehicle's pilot project was not without the establishment of the Gbamu-Gbamu solar mini-grid community. Gbamu-Gbamu is a village in the South-Western part of Nigeria.
“The objective of the project is to showcase the opportunities in the solar system of electricity generation e-mobility to the people. The project has revealed great benefits that cut across
economic and environmental activities to both the community dwellers and the mini-grid developers,” he added.
Continuing further, Abubakr said that Gbamu-Gbamu, is one of the mini-grid sites supported by NESP during its first phase, stressing that it has provided insights on how the potentials of
EVs in rural and peri-urban communities can be adequately harnessed
